Its actions, struggles, and positions have contributed \u2014 and continue to contribute \u2014 to shaping Quebec society and influencing its development.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"276\" data-end=\"838\">Since its inception, driven by Laure Gaudreault, the <em data-start=\"329\" data-end=\"422\">Corporation g\u00e9n\u00e9rale des instituteurs et institutrices catholiques de la province de Qu\u00e9bec<\/em> (CIC), which later became the <em data-start=\"453\" data-end=\"491\">Centrale de l\u2019enseignement du Qu\u00e9bec<\/em> (CEQ), and then the <em data-start=\"512\" data-end=\"546\">Centrale des syndicats du Qu\u00e9bec<\/em> (CSQ), has been firmly committed to defending and improving the working and living conditions of its members \u2014 the majority of whom are women.
